Ration is an Icelandic aquaculture technology company built on deep industry experience and a clear focus on innovation with purpose. We combine strong capabilities in live fish counting, feed monitoring technology, and production data to serve aquaculture producers around the world. The team brings decades of experience from both aquaculture operations and advanced technology development. The founders have a long track record in the industry, including earlier work at VAKI, where they helped develop technologies for live fish counting, grading, and biomass estimation. Dr. Hans Atlason, an electrical and computer engineer with a background in machine learning and computer vision, founded Ration on the belief that AI and imaging technology can solve important production challenges in aquaculture. That vision continues to shape our work today.
Ration focuses on technologies that improve accuracy, efficiency, and decision-making across aquaculture production. Our current product portfolio includes:
- RationFeed — an intelligent feeding solution for land-based farms that measures appetite in real time by detecting uneaten pellets in the effluent pipe.
- RationOva — a high-precision automated ova counting system that improves throughput and provides cloud-based traceability.
- RationCounter — our upcoming live fish counting system, delivering real-time counting using computer vision and AI.
